Rained out

We woke up today in our new house with little food, no stove to cook on(have not bought one yet) and no electricity. It was the perfect opportunity to go to our favorite restaurant and get breakfast. The day started off good because of bad conditions. Just how Uganda loves to treat us. After breakfast we stopped in at the babies home to see all the kids. Then Em and I ran back to the house to get our passports and left Sarah and Jethro at the babies home. We are needing to open a bank account to receive money for some feeding programs. Then started the rain/hale. We ended up stuck back at our house. It was a long heavy storm that did not want to stop. We headed to the coaster stage (bus stop) to wait for a coaster to take us to town. After a very long wait and still no coaster we started walking. The rain started to let up as we walked and we where able to get a boda boda. We picked up Sarah and headed to the bank, well we thought. We ended up in a hour long traffic jam. We arrived at the bank with a few minutes to open an account. That is not enough time especially in Uganda. So tomorrow we will open an account.

So was the day a loss, yes I felt it was. Then God turned a day of bad timing in my opinion, into a very productive day. After the bank fail I headed to the boys home of 42 teenage and younger boys to see how much food is left. I arrived just as they where getting home from school. They slowly trickle in. I start visiting with them and notice how bad there hair is looking. I rounded up 5 of the worst heads and we headed off to the barber. We all sat around while laughing and talking while each kid got there hair cut. These boys where so appreciative of a hair cut. It was a good bonding time. I was able to get 6 hair cuts for $2. So little but so much. I plan on getting the rest of the 37 boys hair cut over the next week. This is something for $10 a month some one could sponsor that would really help out some kids. The boys have enough food for a few mor days and through IVO they will be fed.

  1. I love those boys so much! I am so glad you are there and spending time with them. They are so amazing and I know they love having you around. I am also glad that they won't be without food anymore. Keep up the good work!

  3. So thankful you all are there to feed them. Thankful for the people who donate. Thankful for the haircuts. Most of the western world never thinks about all the things we have easy, affordable access to....like haircuts! I always think of the street kids and just how it would be not to have chap stick when your lips are killin' ya. Little things but HUGE things. Love to each of you!!
